Lac du Bonnet has a long and rich cultural heritage that is unique to Manitoba. Many communities in Manitoba owe their development and settlement of their lands by immigrant farmers. This has provided them with a rich agricultural heritage which is exemplified in local museums. Lac du Bonnet is situated on the interface between the rich prairie lands and the Canadian shield. This has provided a rich diversity of immigrants to our community, including farmers , lumbermen, trappers, miners and merchants .They were also able to interact with the native aboriginal people they found in the area. It is the goal of the Society to highlight these unique features in the Museum. We take this time to invite you to share your family history.
The Society wishes to thank the donors of the artifacts that have been collected and catalogued during the past few months. This work is ongoing as the displays evolve. Artifacts are graciously accepted
Every enterprise or undertaking requires that people become aware of what organization has to offer. This website offers this kind of information for residents of Lac du Bonnet. An integral part of this awareness is fund raising. This activity serves two purposes: the first is to raise funds for the operation of the museum and the second is to make people aware of what we are doing in the community to preserve the past for present and future residents in the Lac du Bonnet community.
One event that the Historical Society undertakes is an Annual Wine & Cheese held every December since 2009.
